Every Dog's Day I thought that I was moving That I'd finally got the boot in No more wallowing in self doubt I had finally found a way out I was wrong Falling out of favour After all things I gave her All our promises are broken If you build your world upon 'em You'd be wrong Well here I am Oh Lord When will I have my say Every dog must have it's day Please oh lord I swear that I will change my tune Hear me now, I'm begging you Oh oh oh Oh oh oh oh Oh oh oh To err is only human From the first breath in we're losin' Anybody tells you different You just know it's wishful thinking And they'd be wrong But after all that's what we are I'm surprised we've even got this far Bipedal but by golly Aren't we fond of all this folly And we're wrong, so wrong Yes we're wrong, So wrong ,wrong, wrong, wrong Well here I am Oh Lord When will I have my say Every dog must have it's day Please oh lord I swear that I will change my tune Hear me now, it's coming soon Oh oh oh Oh oh oh oh Oh oh oh

My Love Feels Real My love feels real, feels real good My love feels real, feels real good You find some love don't question it Don’t put on the brakes just roll with it You find someone who loves you too Wheels on the track no stopping you You’ve got some time don’t waste it now Don’t sit on the porch don’t tell me how Love is like a Moving train Gotta get on board or lose again My love feels real, feels real good My love feels real, feels real good

A lonely bird unlike the rest Too scared of heights won’t/to leave the nest There’s little else that you can do Than take the road ahead of you
When in doubt, don’t poor Richard touts Don’t fan the flame but stomp it out
And don’t stop stomping get underway The rails you ride are yours to lay When the door swings wide well, come on through Step inside you’ll find me too
Whoever thought we’d end up here? But one and one makes half the fear My love, my love, my love, my love My love feels real, feels real good

She Sang Song She gave love a melody, melody She captured the mystery, mystery She lifted me up again, up again After the travellin', travellin She made pain a memory, memory Gave me the remedy, remedy And I needed to feel it Needed someone to care She's a voice in the darkness Just calling me there She sang songs of a different time Pictured faces long left behind She used words i could never find And in spilling her heart she filled up mine She gifted my reverie, reverie Far from the drudgery, drudgery Laid bare my history, history Oh my persephone, sing to me And I needed to hear it Feel it echo within As her voice rose inside me Our two spirits akin She sang songs of a different time Pictured faces long left behind She used words i could never find And in spilling her heart she filled up mine

Donna Lola Born in Sligo, I wasn’t long for Grange
In Germany they said I was from Spain
In London I was Indian Then I changed my name again Thus the world beheld Donna Lola
You’re never gonna forget Donna Lola
You’re never gonna forget Donna Lola
If you don't know Lola Montez That just means that I ain't done yet
You’re never gonna forget Donna Lola
No one on this earth would ever dare
To say I put on graces and airs If you doubt my constitution Watch me start a revolution Then you'll never forget Donna Lola As a muse I am a splendid thing I've known composers, writers and a king
My Spanish beauty is unspoiled And well preserved in inks and oils
You’re never gonna forget Donna Lola I can hypnotize you with my Spider Dance It left Australian miners in a trance There's no stage with a better show And I'll whip the man that says that it ain't so Then he’ll never forget Donna Lola There’s nothing in this world I’ve never seen
There’s nothing in this world I’ve never been I've sailed the seas and evangelized Of a woman's fight and of men who lie You’re never gonna forget Donna Lola

I think it's time we talked some sense I don't know 'bout you but I could really use the rest And everybody's tired, wond’ring what to do I think everybody's owed a modicum of truth So if there's nothing left to lose Just come out and say it It may be our last chance To clean the air between us It's probably now or never Change is for the better So meet me in the middle And face this thing together It's bad enough we've lost all this time It only makes it harder further down the line We'll only make it worse if we don't try to lift this curse So let be the one to hold my hand out first So if there's nothing left to prove Just come out and say it It may be our last chance To heal the air between us A baring of the bones Breaking sticks and stones So meet me in the middle
Catch the line I've thrown
So meet me in the middle You don't have to be alone You don't have to be alone

River of Gold There’s a river of gold In a story that’s told Flowing to take you away But the river of old Only favoured the bold In the land of the blue agave On the river of gold You can lighten your load Live out the rest of your days But the river of old Hides a sorrow I’m told Las lágrimas de tus padres There’s a river of gold It’s no place for the old The wise ones have long slipped away ‘Cos the river of old Puts a weight on your soul It’s a high price that no one should pay On the river of gold Where the nights can be cold Far from the walls of Trujillo Oh the river of old Took you far from your home Lejos de aqui hijo mío There’s a river of gold In a story I’m told The song of the Conquistadores On the river of gold They never grow old In the land of the blue agave

Carolina in my Mind In my mind I've gone to Carolina Can't you see the sunshine? Can't you just feel the moonshine? Ain't it just like a friend of mine to hit me from behind? And I'm going to Carolina in my mind Karen, she's a silver sun, you'd best walk away and watch it shining Watch her watch the morning come A silver tear appearing now I'm crying ain't I? I'm gone to Carolina in my mind There ain't no doubt in no one's mind that loves the finest thing around Whisper something soft and kind And hey baby, the sky's on fire, I'm dying, ain't I I'm going to Carolina in my mind In my mind I've gone to Carolina Can't you see the sunshine? Can't you just feel the moonshine? Ain't it just like a friend of mine to hit me from behind? And I'm going to Carolina in my mind Dark and silent late last night I think I might have heard the highway calling Geese in flight and dogs that bite The signs that it might be omens say I'm going, going I've gone to Carolina in my mind With a holy host of others standing around me Still I'm on the dark side of the moon Seems like it goes on like this forever, you must forgive me Forgive me, and If I'm up and... In my mind I've gone to Carolina in my mind Can't you see the sunshine? Can't you just feel the moonshine? Ain't it just like a friend of mine to hit me from behind? And I'm going to Carolina in my mind

Less than Equal There was a time I thought I had it all figured out A simpler time, Oh of that there is no doubt But things get broken Like hearts left wide open What is a thought if unspoken? You know I don't wanna feel less than equal I thought I made it clear or I just don't know people You reach a point in life when it's all you're fighting for But it's harder now, harder now, oh than before What is it now? They say you gotta do to make it work, make it work When tolerance Is a two-way path through the dirt But things get broken And lives are woken What is a word if unspoken? You know I don't wanna feel less than equal I thought I made it clear or I just don't know people You reach a point in life when it's all you're fighting for But it's harder now, harder now, oh than before But things get broken Like hearts left wide open What is a thought if unspoken? You know I don't wanna feel less than equal I thought I made it clear or I just don't know people You reach a point in life when it's all you're fighting for But it's harder now, much harder now, than before It’s harder now, harder now, than before Harder now harder now, than before

Where to Now? Don’t be one more tree fallen on the log-strewn path Don’t get lost to your inner windings Never see the wood... I know that you’ve been harb’ring thoughts Any heart would feel weighed down Take your time deciding don’t be Rushing now, there’s no need Just don’t give in to All you’re driven to Find your way back home
Don’t be one less voice shouting out into the night Don’t lose faith by thinking You don’t shine as bright You make a difference everytime.. Everytime you try And you won't be sorry to have not let go I promise Just don’t give in to All you’re driven to Find your way back home And to answer your own question "Where to now?" You've come so far just try to stay On the path you’re on somehow

Looking down these empty tracks Knowing that my train has gone Wondering when my train will come back Hope against hope it’s not gone for long Don’t need the first, up at 9:39 20 past 11 downbound would be fine Four and five times up the mountain, and down again Cercedilla to Cotos: C-9 Listen to the whistle blow See those red and white cars roll Feel the wheels rounding the narrow gauge curves I can hear them scream, but just in my dreams Come back and free my soul
11.
At a Time Like This How do I tell you I love you At a time like this How do I hold you and keep you safe At a time like this How does anyone see the light And make it through the night How do I help you to feel all right At a time like this So just come and hold me tight At a time like this How does anyone make sense of it In a world like this How do I shelter you from the rain At a time like this Give you hope and share your pain At a time like this How does anyone deal with what they've been thrown So make this love your home
12.
As the last lick of light Lingered on Stretching like a finger Back to the dawn Fading as the dark Dowsed out the flame Beholden to the night From whence it came As the last drop is poured Amber and gold Feeling like a portent Of stories untold Smoke on the tongue Coarsing the veins Stoking the embers 'Til nothing remains

Well it seems, so very long Since I wrote you that Christmas song It was only yesterday When that plane took you away from me again So I’m wishing ‘cos it's all I can do And I'm hoping & praying that wishes Would only come true If our paths cross again Though it be now and then Oh please let it be at Christmas time Please let it be at Christmas time Though it only comes, once a year It's the one time you need your love near So come be with me It's how Christmas was meant to be So I'm thinking only of you And I'm thinking that maybe this time Wishing's all I need do If I see you again Though it be now and then Oh please let it be at Christmas time Please let it be at Christmas time Though it only comes once a year It's the one time you need your love near So come be with me It's how Christmas was meant to be It's how christmas was meant to be

about

Where to Now? is as much a battle cry as it is Track Dogs’ new album title.

The four Madrid-based musicians, who celebrated 15 years together in 2021, are as determined as ever to pick up where they left off after their 2019 album Fire on the Rails. This is also their statement to fans that despite the disruption of the last two years, these dogs are neither sleeping nor lying.

Started during lockdown 2020, this collection of songs embraces introspection balanced with the undeniable optimism and rhythm that has opened the doors of so many venues and festivals.

Track Dogs’ 7th studio album delivers 12 songs with 12 musical guests including Cathy Jordan of Dervish, the English folk-scene favorites, Banter, members of Robbie's solo project The Potato Monsters, UK violinist Kate Moran and US singer Delories Dunn. The album also features some lush string arrangements from both sides of the Atlantic courtesy of Eli Bishop in Nashville and Chris Demetriou & Adrianne Wininsky in Stockport, UK.

From the riproaring finale of “Donna Lola” to the intimate duo of Garrett Wall and trumpeter-singer, Howard Brown, on the title track, the album promises new depth as well as Track Dogs’ signature fun and polish. Also included is the band's cover of “Carolina in My Mind”, which got the thumbs up from James Taylor himself.

The cover art is a painting by friend and fan, Yorkshire painter Graham Lee, and the album artwork also features photos by Robbie K. Jones and Spanish photographer and blogger Ana Tabuenca.

With this their most collaborative album to date the band are pretty sure that whatever the answer is to “Where to Now?” the journey ahead will be shared by all of us, together.

about

Track Dogs Madrid, Spain

Track Dogs are an acoustic four piece based in Spain but hail from Ireland, the US and UK.

Taking their name from the NY subway maintenance teams this closely-knit group of ex-pats have opted for Cajón instead of drums and trumpet in place of electric guitar. Four-part harmonies steal the show.
